Fund raising continues

Today was a day of some knock backs, but also some progress. We are finalizing the legal side of the fundraising tomorrow and we will be a tax deductible charity by the end of next week. We have had positive emails and letters, but still nothing substantial. Australia Post has so far made the largest donation of $10,000. Thank you to those involved with that donation. Unfortunately Australia Post will not be putting Dylan on their website as first told. It has been put on their internal Intranet, so only Post employees can view it. As for the T-shirts for sale, I haven’t heard anything more, so I assume that fell through also. We did get some cricket bats donated from “Victoria Cricket Association” They include a signed bat from the Australian Vs New Zealand 2004 test team with a letter of authenticity, a signed bat from the Victorian State Cricket Team and another bat signed by Adam Gilchrist that has been used during practice by him. We plan to sell these through E-Bay for no less than $1,000 each. It was quicker to do it through E-Bay than to set up for auctioning or raffles.

The parents and teachers at Dylan’s school are making progress with spreading the word. Australia Post employees at Dandenong Letters Centre also continue their fantastic support for the campaign. A big thank you to Kaye & Ken, Leanne & Brett, Heather & Joff and Carol & Paul. There are many others but I cannot list them all. I would also like to thank “Clayton Utz” for taking care of all our legal matters with no fee, and to Bronwyn for getting the ball rolling on that one. And of course, thank you to all the people who have donated so far…this would not be possible with out your generous gifts. I am looking at the possibility of flying out on the 17th or 18th of January. I am still waiting to get an appointment for our visa’s and will pick up our passports on Monday. So much to do, and so little time! I must ensure that the weekend before Dylan and I leave for New York, that we spend it as a family, and take the boys out somewhere special. We are all going to miss each other so much.
