$80,000 raised so far

Dylan is still in hospital, he had a CT scan done yesterday afternoon and another platelet transfusion as he had another blood nose. He was fine for the scan, but he was most upset about the IV needle that was put into his little hand to administer the dye required. This morning Dylan had a bone scan and his potassium levels are fine. His magnesium on the other hand is still low, despite the infusion. The registrar did not know why his magnesium was continuing to be so low, nor could she confirm that his low magnesium was the reason why Dylan is so sleepy and lethargic today. He has slept most of the day and slept well last night, and this concerns me. They decided to keep Dylan hospitalized as his white blood cells are still 0 and his platelets may drop again.

Dr Heath came in this morning with an email he received from Sloan Kettering. The email basically said, for us to contact them directly to arrange a date for us to fly over and discuss his therapy in further detail. So the only thing holding us back now is the money. We are up to about $80,000 now and once that is converted to U.S dollars, it really is not enough to commence his treatment yet. I will however make a date with Sloan Kettering and book the flights for some time towards the end of January, with the hope that we achieve more media coverage by then, and attempt to get some major sponsors. I know that if we had 6 months to raise the money, we would definitely achieve it, but I fear that due to Dylan’s present condition, we must get him there by the end on January at the latest.

The Bendigo Bank has presented to be a problem for funds to be directly deposited into the fund. We are now in the middle of trying to work it all out, but again with it being the holiday season, it is going to take time…which we don’t have.

Xmas and New Year has almost passed us by. I don’t want to celebrate New Year tonight, as I know it is going to be a very tough year ahead. Not only will Dylan continue to fight for his life, but our family will be torn apart by Dylan and I being on the other side of the world. It will all be worth it though, in the end. Thank you again for all the donations so far, and in particular, to the very generous individual who has purchased our airfares…I will be in contact soon, to thank you personally.
