Dental Visit

Dylan's blood counts are slowly coming up, so it looks like he will start his 11th round of chemo on Monday. Dylan is eating small amounts and he will be weighed again on Monday as well as having another blood test to check his liver. I am hoping by then we will also get the bone marrow and hepatitis results. At the dentist today, Dylan was really good having an x-ray and he sat in the dentist chair very anxious. The dentist agreed that his 3 top baby teeth need to be removed as it is causing his adult tooth to come out on an angle. So tomorrow's the big day and Dylan is very nervous. They will not give Dylan a general anesthetic, so he will only get a local. I know when he sees that needle coming towards his mouth he is going to freak. Poor kid, as if he doesn't have enough to deal with. He is so worried that he won't be able to eat anything with his teeth missing. The dentist explained that chemo can cause problems with a delay in his adult teeth, it can cause them to be under developed and smaller in size. At 9am Dylan will take 1000mg of antibiotics and at 10am the teeth will be pulled. I keep reminding Dylan that for 3 teeth he will really cash in on the tooth fairy!
The weather in New York has been so hot, we have been unable to leave the Ronald McDonald House as I fear Dylan may become dehydrated because he will not drink enough in this heat. Tomorrow though, the weather is supposed to be cooler and I am hoping that if Dylan feels well enough after his dental appointment, that we can go to Central Park for the day.
Our friend Donna, is in need of some kind messages in her guest book, so if you have the time please pay her a visit. Donna is 14 years old and lives back home in Australia. She has Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and well...I just wish I could send her a miracle. I don't know what else to do but ask people to let her know that they care about her, by signing her guest book.
